Abstract

Red ginger is one of the important horticultural commodities of the rhizome tribe for biopharmaceuticals and non-oil and gas exports. Production of red ginger rhizome is still low. Efforts to increase production can be achieved by improving cultivation technology through fertilizing with organic cow's urine. The aim of this study was to determine the appropriate concentration and frequency of giving cow's bio-urine to the early growth of red ginger. The research was carried out in the Screenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University, from January to May 2020. The study was designed according to a two-factor factorial randomized block design (RAK). The first factor is the concentration of cow's bio-urine in 5 levels, namely: 300 ml.L-1 water (K1), 600 ml.L-1 water (K2), 900.L-1 water (K3), 1200.L-1 water (K4), and 1500.L-1 water (K5). The second factor is the frequency of application (administration) of bovine bio-urine, namely: 2 times (F1), 4 times (F2), and 6 times (F3). The combination of treatments was 15 units and repeated 3 times so that there were 45 experimental units. The results showed that the interaction between the concentration of bovine bio-urine and the frequency of its application had a significant effect on all components of red ginger plant growth. Concentration of 1200 ml.L-1 of cow Bio-urine water with a frequency of administration of 2 times is more efficient and provides better growth than the frequency of administration of 4 times and 6 times, which is indicated by taller plants, more number of leaves, and heavier rhizome weight. compared to other treatment combinations.
